A lawsuit filed in Fulton State Court last month aims to get answers about a 2005 death at Polk County`s Skydive the Farm. Kathleen Adams and Joe Ingrams son, Edward Jarmaine Ingram, was found dead in a pond at the local skydiving business on May 14, 2005. The death of the 21-year-old from Gainesville, Ga., was ruled accidental. But, Ingram`s parents believe his companions that night and/or the skydiving facility are to blame. No criminal charges were filed at the time of the death, and now, Ingram`s parents are seeking answers and resolve. The victim was a graduate of Riverside Military Academy and was home on break from Benedict College in South Carolina staying with his father in Dunwoody, when the incident occurred. The Standard reported in 2005 that based on results of an autopsy conducted at the GBI Crime Lab, Ingram, of 2001 Riverside Dr., Gainesville, died from drowning. Hans Paulsen, owner of Skydive the Farm, stated that the victim and a friend had arrived there on May 13 to stay overnight. Paulsen said that when he left, the victim and others were having a party. The victim`s friend, Warren Cleary of Atlanta, told police that Ingram had been drinking the night of his death. Ingram, Cleary said, had laid down and passed out on an air mattress next to the lake. Cleary told police that he and some friends had pushed the air mattress with Ingram still passed out on the top into the lake. A short time later, however, Cleary said that they retrieved Ingram and the mattress from the lake and placed it back onto the bank. At that point, Cleary said that after checking on Ingram, everyone went to bed. Later, after Cleary woke up, he said he began to search for Ingram but could not locate him. Polk EMS were called to the scene and saw that Ingram had been bleeding around the mouth, according to police reports. The parents` suit names Cleary, along with several others who were with Ingram the night of his death and the operators of Sky Dive the Farm as defendants.
