44th annual Cedar Valley Arts Festival set for April 26-27: The theme for 2008 is `Bringing Culture and the Arts to the Children of Polk County.` The festival will be located at Peek Park in Cedartown and the hours are Saturday, April 26: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 27: 1 to 5 p.m. There will be arts and crafts, food vendors, market and activities for children. The event`s Web site posts five categories for exhibitors: Handmade Arts & Crafts; children`s area; food/concessions; market place (prepackaged food items, plants, flowers, etc); and civic groups. On that same note, the Cedar Valley Arts Festival 5K Road Race & 1 Mile Fun Run is scheduled for April 26: The annual Cedar Valley Arts Festival 5K Road Race and one-mile fun run begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 26. You can pre-register on active.com or request an application from Amy Hooper by emailing her at hoopersnest@charter.net. The fee is $15 until April 24 or $20 the day of the race. T-shirts are only guaranteed to all pre-registered runners. Awards will be given by age groups in the 5K, medals for all 1-mile finishers, and special awards for the fastest male and female. Refreshments, great course, door prizes, and post-race massages will all be available. After the race, all are invited to the annual Cedar Valley Arts Festival.
