More severe weather plowed through Cedartown Thursday afternoon, knocking out power to nearly 200 Georgia Power customers.
Storm cleanup specialists were in the midst of cleaning up from Wednesday’s severe storms at the retail strip shopping center next to Home Depot when the latest round of nasty storms hit.
“About four or five tiles just burst and it was a flood of water,” said Richard Grimes, owner of the Cedartown RadioShack.
He says he his store, along with several others sustained serious water damage when the metal roofing was blown off the structure.
“This morning when I came in, we didn’t have any damage,” said Grimes. “We don’t believe it damaged any merchandise.”
“We are open for business,” he said.
The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning shortly after 3:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
Previous to that, significant rainfall and high winds raced through the area during the 2:00 hour, causing flooding and even more trees to come down.
