Despite the suspension of the countywide burn ban, the City of Cedartown has decided to keep the citywide burn ban in place.
According to a media release from the city, if you live in the city limits of Cedartown, the burn ban is still in effect.
“Our fire officials do not feel comfortable lifting the ban at this point in time. Yes, it has rained a good bit over the last few weeks, but a few days of dry weather, wind and low humidity would put us right back into a dangerous situation. We are still classified as a Drought Level II area. With any type of fire risk, it’s better to be safe than sorry — and we want to keep you and your property as safe as possible.”
Fire officials will continue to revisit local climate and environment conditions and will update with any changes regarding the burn ban.
