ATLANTA – Nathaniel McCain of Cedartown has won a lucky prize playing a Georgia Lottery instant ticket game. McCain, 67, won $75,000 playing the Win All scratcher.
Discount Grocery, located at 425 S. College St. in Cedartown, sold the winning ticket.
McCain, a retired hospital employee, said that he was out doing a little shopping when he purchased the ticket.
“It was a random occasion,” he said. “My birthday was last week, but I didn’t think anything was going to happen.”
The lucky winner said the he plans to use his winnings to pay some bills.
McCain claimed his prize Thursday at the Dalton Georgia Lottery District Office.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $18.1 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.7 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.4 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
