Driver, Ralph William Dover III (37), was operating a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe. Mr. Dover was traveling south on GA1 (Main St) near Frances Drive, in the city of Cedartown. Eric Christopher Keais (38) was riding a Road Master bicycle, southbound on GA1 (Main St), also near Frances Drive. The front on the Santa Fe struck the rear of the bicycle in the roadway. Mr. Keais suffered a fatal injury as the result of the crash.
Post 3, Cartersville is investigating the crash with the assistance of the Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team.

This is an ongoing investigation and charges, if any, will be determined at the conclusion of the investigation.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal accident involving a bicyclist being struck by a motorist Wednesday evening.
According to Polk County Coroner Tony Brazier, first responders from the Cedartown Fire Department, Redmond EMS and Cedartown Police arrived at 9:30 pm after receiving several calls to Polk 911 that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.
The accident occurred on North Main Street in front of the entrance to the Dollar General Market shopping center, said Brazier.
The victim, identified as 38-year-old Eric Christopher Keais of a Cedartown address, suffered significant trauma and was taken to the emergency room at Polk Medical Center where life saving efforts were unsuccessful.
Brazier said doctors declared Keais deceased at 10:15 pm in the ER.
The Georgia State Patrol Cartersville post responded to the scene and is leading the investigation, including the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team.
No word as of yet on whether any charges are being levied against the driver of the car.
