Georgia State Patrol officials were in town Thursday, meeting with Cedartown Police as the investigation continues into the tragic single vehicle accident that claimed the life of Cedartown High School senior Karina Macedo.
Additional details on what actually happened in the accident should be finalized and released sometime early next week, said Cedartown Police Chief Jamie Newsome.
In the meantime, CHS students, faculty, and staff continue to deal with the loss of the 17-year-old Karina who was heavily involved with the drama and theater program at the high school.
Cedartown students gathered around the flagpole Friday morning as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes lead a memorial gathering for Karina Macedo.
Northwest Whitfield High School has indicated to Cedartown Head Football Coach Scott Hendrix that a moment of silence will be observed before tonight’s away football game.
The funeral for Karina Macedo will be conducted on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home chapel. The family will receive friends tonight at the funeral home from 5 – 9 p.m.
