Another person was arrested earlier this week in connection with a GBI lead raid on two local convenience store suspected of illegal gambling activity.
According to Polk County Jail records, 35-year-old Ketan Patel of a Joy Drive address in Cedartown was arrested Monday on a felony charge of commercial gambling. Patel was released the same day on a $5,100 property bond.
An arrest warrant was issued for Patel in connection with the investigation into Chapman’s Shopette on South Main Street.
Both Chapman’s and the Chevron Convenience Store on Main Street at East Avenue were closed for several hours last week as GBI agents seized gaming machines and monetary assets related to suspected illegal gambling.
Both convenience stores are now back open.
