Monday is the deadline for anyone wishing to register to vote in the upcoming November General Election, which is just over a month away.
According to election officials, after the registration deadline has passed, early voting will begin on Monday, October 13 and run until October 31. A Saturday voting day will be on October 25.
There are several local races on the ballot for Polk School District Board of Education. Incumbent Republican Grady McCrickard faces a challenge from Democrat Regina Roberts. Incumbent Republican Susan Berry will face Democrat Bernard Morgan in the General Election.
Statewide elections include the Governor’s race between Republican incumbent Nathan Deal verses Democrat Jason Carter, grandson of former president Jimmy Carter. Democrat Michelle Nunn faces GOP candidate David Perdue for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Saxby Chambliss, who announced he will not seek reelection.
Polk County citizens will vote on a referendum on a fire plan that would effectively realign the fire districts across the county and create a joint paid/volunteer fire department. The plan would not affect the city fire departments.
The General Election is on Tuesday, November 4.
