Authorities have identified a Georgia woman whose dismembered body was found in a wooded area in central Florida.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office identified the body on Thursday as 42-year-old Ethel Shannon McCarson.
Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Lourdes Clayton says a passer-by discovered McCarson in an Orange County field on Wednesday. Clayton says her body was “not intact.” She didn’t provide any further details on the condition of the body.
Clayton says investigators are working to determine where McCarson was before she died.
Officials say police records show McCarson resided in Aragon, Georgia. Deputies say they aren’t sure why she was in Florida.
A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
