It’s official. The Polk County Commission Tuesday night voted to sign a finalized contract with Redmond Medical Center for EMS Services. Commissioners last month voted to move ahead with drawing up contracts with Redmond to provide ambulance service to Polk County. Commission chairman Marshelle Thaxton said earlier last month that Polk County taxpayers stand to save a substantial amount of money with a privatized EMS service. Concerns of local EMT’s losing their jobs and services being compromised were raised by citizens and employees of Polk EMS.
