Polk County Commissioners tonight are expected to authorize the signing of a contract with Redmond Medical Center for EMS Services. Commissions last month voted to move ahead with drawing up contracts with Redmond to provide ambulance service to Polk County. Commission chairman Marshelle Thaxton said earlier last month that Polk County taxpayers stand to save a substantial amount of money with a privatized EMS service. Concerns of local EMT’s losing their jobs and services being compromised were raised by citizens and employees of Polk EMS. The County Commission meet’s tonight at 7 PM at the Georgia State Patrol Building.
