A broken sanitary sewer line appears to be the cause of a small sinkhole that caused a section of Stubbs Street in downtown Cedartown to collapse. Erosion caused by the outflow from the pipe caused the street to cave in. That portion of the street remained blocked to traffic yesterday as repairs continued. A large area of the street surrounding the broken pipe was removed. The pipe was replaced and new earth and concrete was put in to form a suitable subsurface for paving. The area is expected to be paved later this week.
