The new Polk Medical Center will officially open its doors to care for patients and their families on November 6, but the public is invited to tour the new facility at the Grand Preview, which will take place on Sunday, October 19 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.
“We’re excited to be able to announce the official opening of the long-awaited new hospital and look forward to opening it up for everyone to see on the 19th,” said Matt Gorman, Polk Medical Center Administrator. “It will be a great opportunity to showcase the future of health care in Polk County.”
In addition to a 12-room expandable emergency room, the $40 million, 25-bed hospital will feature a new surgical program with two state-of-the-art operating rooms and increased diagnostic and imaging services, including a dedicated women’s diagnostic center. Additionally, the complex will include a 23,000-square-foot medical office building, featuring physician offices and outpatient services, including physical therapy and cardiac rehab.
“Our construction crews have been hard at work and have done a great job of making sure we have remained on schedule, even in the midst of some of the weather challenges we’ve faced over the last year,” Gorman continued. “The result of that hard work is an incredible facility that we believe will be a key component in the continued economic growth in Polk County.”
The public is invited to the Grand Preview, which will feature a flag raising ceremony, tours of the new hospital and a live performance by Cedartown’s own, Scarlet Wool.
