Darice Lewis has been named campus manager of the Polk County campus of Coosa Valley Technical College by Dr. Craig McDaniel, CVTC president. Lewis joined Coosa Valley Technical College in 1999 as the lead instructor on the Polk County campus for the Computer Information Systems program. For the past three years, she has also been the Georgia Virtual Technical College online coordinator, including training online instructors and administration for the online Learning Management System. Lewis received her bachelor of business administration degree from Shorter College and master of science degree in computer information technology with graduate honors from Regis University in Denver, Colorado. As campus manager, Lewis will supervise the daily operations and budget for the Polk County campus. She will also be the primary liaison for the Georgia Power Technical Education Center located on the Polk County campus. Lewis will continue to assist the GVTC online coordinator. Lewis serves on the Polk County Chamber Workforce Development Committee, Polk County Women’s Shelter Advisory Board, and is a member of the Rockmart Kiwanis Club. In July 2009, Coosa Valley Technical College will be merging with Northwestern Technical College to form Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC). Georgia Northwestern will serve Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, Gordon, Polk, and Walker counties in Georgia with campuses located in Floyd, Gordon, Polk, and Walker counties. Approximately 16,000 people will benefit from GNTC’s credit and noncredit programs, making it the largest college in Northwest Georgia and the fifth largest technical college in Georgia.
