Centre, Ala. – Murder suspect Jeffery Wilcox Jr. has been arrested after his 2001 Chevy pickup-truck was spotted on West Main Street in Centre just after 2:00 this afternoon.
Centre Police Officers Billy Roche and Brody Moses conducted a traffic stop on Wilcox in the parking lot of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and Wilcox was taken into custody without incident by Centre Police and Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Investigators.
Wilcox’s wife Chasidy was found safe and unharmed in the truck with him and she was placed in the care of law enforcement.
It appears at this time that Wilcox was planning to turn himself in.
Chief of Investigations Josh Summerford said that at this time they do not know where he has been hiding out since Sunday but will be conducting interviews to find out.
Wilcox will be charged in connection with a double homicide which occurred in the Tenalla community of Cherokee County early Sunday afternoon (July 31st).
The victims, according to Coroner Jeremy Deaton, were identified as Daniel Andrews and Letitia B. Andrews, both age 48; the bodies were discovered shortly after 1:30pm at a home on County Road 19.
They are reportedly the mother and step-father of Wilcox’s wife.
Warrants have been issued on Wilcox for Capital Murder and for Kidnapping 1st Degree.
