An arrest of a Polk County man earlier this month was one of many arrests conducted across the state as part of a multi-agency electronic child pornography sting.
According to a press release issued this week, the state wide endeavor, known as Operation MasqueRAID, began in July 2014 and centered on GBI agents, along with local and federal Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force affiliates, detecting child pornography images being shared using the internet.
According to Polk County Jail records, 20-year-old Dwight Davis of Lees Chapel Road in Cedartown was arrested and charged with computer/electronic pornography and child exploitation.
The press release indicates that the targets of Operation MasquRAID were the most prolific offenders of child pornography.
So far statewide, 595 digital images of child pornography have been seized and 18 arrests have been made, with more expected.
