The Polk County Sheriff’s Office called off the manhunt Wednesday night for a fugitive believed to have been in Cedartown seeing family members.
According to Chief Deputy Jonathan Blackmon, 29-year-old Juan Dominguez is wanted on warrants issued by Sandy Springs Police Department on murder. He allegedly shot and killed his roommate in the head Monday night and fled.
An extensive search by multiple law enforcement agencies ensued after a man matching Dominguez’s description was questioned by Cedartown Police and promptly fled on foot.
Chief Deputy Blackmon says that it is highly likely the fugitive has left the area, but still encourages residents to be vigilant and keep their homes secure by locking their doors.
Evidence, including clothes that Dominguez had worn when he came to see relatives have been turned over to the Sandy Springs Police Department Criminal Investigative Division.
Dominguez is described as a Hispanic male, 5′ 5″, weighing between 130 and 150 pounds.
Chief Deputy Blackmon urges that if anyone sees someone matching his description, to call Polk 911 immediately.
