Two people from Bartow County have been diagnosed with influenza A H1N1 virus, known as swine flu. A 9-year-old female and an 18-year-old male have been diagnosed with the H1N1 virus, Northwest Georgia Public Health Public Information Officer Logan Boss said. The 9-year-old became ill during a visit to a summer camp in Alabama. Neither Bartow resident was hospitalized. According to the Centers for Disease Control, as of July 17 Georgia had 174 probable and confirmed H1N1 virus cases and one death. In the U.S. there have been 40,617 probable and confirmed H1N1 virus cases and 263 deaths.
