A woman who had jumped out of a moving vehicle Wednesday evening has died from her injuries.
According to Polk County Coroner Tony Brazier, 28-year-old Melissa Baldwin of Newnan was pronounced dead at 2:20 p.m. Thursday in the trauma unit at Atlanta Medical Center.
According to initial reports, Baldwin was riding in a pickup with another individual driving down Davis Road near Home Depot when she suddenly opened the door and jumped out of the moving vehicle.
Redmond EMS, Cedartown Police and Fire responded to the scene and contacted AirLife to transport her to Atlanta for treatment of what was described as severe head trauma.
No charges have been filed in the incident. Cedartown Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
