PRESS RELEASE
Cedartown, Ga. – Cedartown City Manager Bill Fann will be the keynote speaker at the 2014 Cedartown Veteran’s Day Service. The service, organized by Marvin and Jean Hampton and representatives of the American Legion, is held annually on Veteran’s Day (Nov. 11) at 11 a.m. at the Cedartown Veteran’s Memorial Park on East Avenue.
Fann, who was appointed as Cedartown City Manager in 2012, began his public service career as a law enforcement specialist in the U.S. Air Force in 1973. He served on the Presidential Support Unit for President Richard Nixon and was honorably discharged in 1977. “All we have or ever hope to have and all we are or ever hope to be is directly attributable to those who have given of themselves to protect us from those who would deny our freedom,” Fann said.
The Veteran’s Memorial Park, constructed in 2002, serves as a beautiful backdrop for both the annual Veteran’s Day Service and the Memorial Day Service held in May. Large stone pillars display seals from each branch of the U.S. military and the park is lined with paver stones featuring the names of local veterans.
The City of Cedartown, along with the event organizers, encourage individuals to attend the service to honor all of our veterans.
