Trey Creamer, the Minnesota Gold Gopher commit, had four touchdowns in the contest, while Trevor Lawrence threw for two scores. Avery Showell, the Wake Forest commit, and Creamer caught Lawrence’s touchdown passes. Trase Fezzia added a defensive score when he took a fumble return 55-yards in the third quarter. Dominique Williams added a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to give Cartersville its second consecutive championship.
Not enough could be said about the defense, which allowed just 163 yards in the first and was even more electric in the second half, as it did not give up a score.
With seven minutes left in the game, the Cartersville starters left the field to a standing ovation.
Since King took over for the Canes in 2014, Cartersville is 42-2 with three region championships and two state championships.
